The workshop is designed for anyone who has completed 1.0, 2.0 training, or experienced in the PAAB code and working on a regular basis in healthcare advertising, marketing or communication materials that circulate in the Canadian market.

Outline of the day’s objectives by mapping a customer journey flow to applicable code sections

  • In the day’s first working session you’ll be tasked with identifying the multiple touchpoints associated with a marketing campaign to understand the regulatory considerations of a brands.

  • By the end of this session you and your colleagues you’ll have created a customer journey map with relevant code sections applied which can be used on your next multi-channel marketing campaign.


PAAB Copy & Creative Formula: Content + Context + Code

  • Via group working sessions, attendees will be challenged to edit fictional APS in order to become PAAB compliant.

  • Explore the impact that copy has on the content required within a piece and develop skills to identify problematic presentations.
  • Apply and grow understanding of what is meant by “balanced message of risk and benefit” across various tools and claims.

  • Work through challenges by applying your understanding of the code to assess acceptability of tools with different functions, pathways, formatting etc.


Compliant connections are key. Develop the skills to identify and prevent unacceptable linkages

  • In the day’s penultimate working session you will work through linkage scenarios to identify the implications a link might have on all linked resources.

  • By the end of the session, you’ll be able to understand the impact creating a link can have on approved branded, unbranded or corporate APS as well as third-party sites.


Challenge a competitor’s marketing

  • In the day’s final session, you’ll have the opportunity to apply all the lessons from PAAB Training 1.0, 2.0 and 3.0 in order to scrutinize a fictional competitor’s marketing campaign.

  • In the day’s final session, you will be challenged to think like a PAAB reviewer to identify and support requested revisions in competitors APS.
